What In The World
Is A Flake Buster®?
The Flake
Buster®
is a innovative new way to apply metal flake.
Instead of the
conventional method of mixing the flakes in a liquid vehicle
such as a clear coat, it is actually blown onto the wet clear
coat in a dry form using very low pressure. This gives the user
much more control over the flakes being applied. The Flake
Buster®
shoots any size flake up to 1/8 inch hexagon. The conventional
method used the spray gun’s fluid needle/nozzle combination to
determine the size flake used. This meant the bigger the nozzle,
the bigger the flake... and unfortunately a very large build up
just to
apply
the flake, let alone the quantity of clear
required to bury it fully later on.
Make no
mistake the old method still works, but it's not nearly as user
friendly. With the Flake Buster®,
the more you spray the more you get. Since the flakes will only
stick to a wet or very tacky surface, they wont stack up on top
of each other. This minimizes the amount flake being used as
well as the clear coat required to bury the flakes, thus vastly
reducing the amount of clear coat required for the entire
project. This means big savings on time, materials and labor.
Cleaning a
conventional spray gun after each job used to be a nightmare,
and it seemed one could ever get all of the flake completely
cleaned out. This leaves a good chance of your last job showing
up on the next job, not to mention the time and materials it
takes to thoroughly clean the gun. With the Flake Buster®…
it’s a snap! Just unsnap the lid from the gun, unscrew and recap
the flake jar and blow out the lid. It’s as simple as that! This
allows you to keep the unused portion of flake ready for your
next job.
All in all… it just makes perfect
sense!
