Scroll Striper Brushes

The Vortex - Blue Squirrel Hair with Silver Handle

“If you use scroll striping, you’ll love this brush! After 30 years of scrolling we’ve developed what I think is the finest brush available for this style. It gives beautiful controlled lines that respond exactly to your movements without the slightest hesitation, splitting or fraying in the turns. It holds its line throughout the pattern and gives you more response - like the most expensive brushes used for scrolling. I recommend this for beginners as well as seasoned veterans of this style.”

The Typhoon - Kazan Squirrel Hair with Bronze Handle

“Just a ‘hair’ faster than the Vortex, but with all the quality, this baby moves right along. As fast as you can think of a design, the typhoon seems to read your mind and anticipate your next move. The hair was chosen for quick response time and accurate placement on any surface. I especially like this brush for motorcycle work because of the curved surfaces and the brushes ‘forgiveness’ in tight turns. I am amazed at its performance every time I use it.”

Some Commonly Asked Kit Questions...

1. Do I need to trim the Xcaliber brush's ?
No... that's the beauty of these and why they are premium brushes. You can if need be ... but it's already been done for you.

2. Are the paints ready to use?
Yes, just stir them very well as settling does occur after a while. They should be just about the right consistency to use as is

3. Is the Slow Reducer used as a thinner for the paint ?
Yes, usually you don't need to but if you do want the striping urethanes a bit thinner or to dry slower in hot weather or to flow out better you have everything you.

4. What is the Urethane Catalyst used for ?
Used in urethanes to make them fuel proof. Good for when you are doing lines that are not going to be buried under a clear coat. It also helps to stop your lines from running off when the painter does clear coat over them them. Only takes a drop or two mixed in very well or add a little bit to the reducer then you'll have it in there as needed. The catalyst contains isocyanates so be sure to use the proper safety gear (wear gloves, respirator, well ventilated work area, etc.).

5. How is the Brush Preservative used.
Always clean your brush thoroughly before you start. Use an appropriate solvent such as brush cleaner, thinner or reducer to remove the brush preservative. After striping clean your brush till you are sure all the paint is removed. Then just dip the brush hairs into the preservative and (over a paper towel so you don't contaminate the bottle) gently squeeze out the excess and taper the brush hairs just as when the brush was new. Reinsert in the holding tube and you're done.

We hope these answers have helped...
